Travesty

Area: Citadel located west of Fire Mountains on the Tokuno Islands 13-32’ North 8-55’ East

Peerless: Travesty

Quest Required: Yes. Obtain the quest from Sarakki, in front of the Brit Castle (same quest person for donating to the library but different quest (Quest Name: Black Order Badges). You do not need to complete the quest to gain entrance to the Citadel. In fact, most people rarely ever complete the quest, they just want access, and getting the quest from Sarraki will do that for you. If you wish to complete the quest, you will need to obtain 5 badges of each color from dead ninjas: Green, Red and Orange

Keys: 1 yellow 1 blue and 1 red key

Key Carriers: yellow- High Executioner, blue- Master Thief and red- High Mage. All will show as human corpses when he is killed. They spawn roughly every 7 to 8 minutes once killed. If you do not kill however when someone else walks in a new set will spawn. It is possible to have a few spawns going so always beware when entering the areas.

Enter the realm of the Citadel! Once you recall to the entrance of the citadel you will see a few buildings that you can enter but do not take you into the belly of the dungeon. There will be a crate nearby that does change positions from time to time, click on the box and you are transported into the Citadel. Beware when you recall to the area where the box is located for it is usually guarded by some ferocious hiryus that will try to consume you as their next meal. When you enter the box you will find yourself beamed to an entrance that opens to a “lobby”. The lobby sometimes holds a “welcoming committee” of ninjas if someone has walked in the opposite direction on the rugs past the two doors from the lobby leading into the room with the secret doors. You must always be on your toes ready to do battle at any given time. The lobby also is the waiting area for those dropping keys to enter the Travesty. You will see a table in a moat area, which is where the keys are dropped.

Start with the Yellow Room: it is located through the doors on the left side of the lobby. There are rugs located right after the doors which if you go forward you are safe. If you turn around and attempt to go back to the doors you will spawn a horde of ninjas. As you pass over the rugs directly on the back wall is a secret door, which will allow you open it if you hit the switch. It will take you into a corridor and you will see two sets of stairwells. Take the descending ones at your lower left. When you enter that room you will activate a spawn of ninjas, which will include the High Executioner. If you enter the room and try to continue further into it and around the corner you will spawn a bunch of ninjas that are not key holders. Just a lil tidbit. Once you have gotten the yellow key and which to go to another room you can head back up the stairs from that room and directly between the stairwells is a transporter that will take you back to the lobby. Using this helps to keep the spawn to a minimum in the lobby as if you go back the way you came in you will have to use the middle section in that back lobby so not to spawn ninjas. Both work well; it is a matter of preference. Do not walk on the rugs toward the doors.

The next room to learn is the blue room, which is located on the right side past the lobby doors. That secret door is a bit harder to enter, as you must push the switch on the far back wall before attempting to open the secret door on the right side. Once you enter that corridor you will find the secret door into the blue key room on the smaller wall at the bottom of your screen. You will transport into a room that is adjacent to the actual room of the spawn, it is the smallest of the three key areas. You will activate the spawn when you approach the second room. The key holder of the blue key is the Master Thief. When you have finished there is a teleporter that will take you to the lobby in the upper left corner of the room. When acquiring the keys it is best to not be in party mode as you have a better chance of getting the keys especially when there are others not in your party attempting to get them as well.

The last room to learn is the red room, the most difficult room of all. From the lobby, as you enter that first door,to your direct left will be the secret door to the red key room. That room is the hardest of all the rooms as it takes you through a maze just to get to the key holders. It is almost impossible to do it without honor though with a large group I am sure you could be successful. Honor allows you five minutes of undetected movement from the ninjas. You will enter the secret doors, activate your honor, run up the stairs to be welcomed immediate by a horde of spawn. Follow the hallway to your right until the end of the hallway and take the left until you are in a small room. In that small room is a secret door along the left bottom wall. There you will transport into another room, which will have a stairwell leading you to the last passageway. When you run through the stairwell and arrive to the bottom, take the right hallway until the end of that passageway. Do not take a turn. At the end of that passage way you will be trigger the key holder spawn and hopefully kill it before you honor runs out. Tamers do well here if cross healing of pets is exercised. The Grandmaster Mage holds the red key and will read as “a human corpse” when it killed. To exit the red room there is a secret door along the wall to the right. It takes you to a passageway that leads to the table for dropping keys and there are ninjas in residence so be careful as you exit. When you run through that hallway, you will take the upward stairs and will be in a safe location. At this point you can enter the area for the key drop or there is a transporter located against the wall that will take you to the lobby area.

Once you have all the keys and congregate to the lobby area you will prepare to meet Travesty. The Travesty is an uber-changeling. She will take on different appearance of those attempting to harm her and has the ability to use their skills when she does this. So if she changes into one of your party's bards, she has the ability to peace and provoke pets and people alike, or if she takes the from of one of your party, she will use his warrior skills including special moves to annihilate her opposition. When she changes into the different forms and chooses you, be ready to heal as she will hone in on whose character she has taken. When redlined, she summons roughly 50 ninjas and Black Order Mages and Assassins to help. Travesty's spawn is triggered when she drops below a certain hp value. If the attack doesnt keep on her, she will regen back above the hp level and will trigger more spawn when she drops below the hp level again. It is possible to keep letting her regen and knock her hps down to keep spawning the npcs. Be sure to kill them before you finish Travesty, or they have the potential to mess up your party BADLY. If you don't kill her within a certain amount of time, she'll summon more. We have witnessed this and it is not pretty. She will attempt to run away when she is redlined. It is best to stay right on her especially with the pets so this does not happen. Once killed she holds a few nice items including The Eye of Travesty, The Mask of Travesty, Remains of Travesty and the Crimson Cincture. Make sure you kill all the ninjas before you leave for they will stay alive and welcome the others if you do not. It is proper peer etiquette.

Points of Interest

The dungeon is filled with secret doors.

You will need to find many of them in order to get the keys to The Travesty. Some advise leaving circle of transparency on (see below!!), I advise just double clicking on walls. And, perhaps easiest and most advised, go with a group and watch others. It's not too hard to remember.

Tips & Tricks

When learning the general layout of this area, leave your Circle of Transparency on, as it will show you were the hidden doors are located.

Never move too quickly in the Citadel, as ninjas will ambush you. The more you run, the more ninjas will appear.

Avoid stepping on carpets and other floor scenery.

Many of the spike traps have a "safe route" to get by. Pay close attention and learn from your mistakes.

A stealth mage works very well in this lair.

Some spike traps can not be avoided. Try to use every strength/HP increasing item at your disposal to "live" through the damage.

Summoning Keys

It takes three keys to summon Travesty, which are actual keys and not random objects. There is a yellow, a blue, and a red key

The High Executioner, located through the SW hidden door, holds one key (yellow key).

The Master Thief, located through the North hidden door, holds the second (blue key).

The Grand Mage, located in the bottommost level (that requires walking through a spike trap that almost certainly will kill you) holds the last (red key).

The SE hidden door in the garden is the best way to access the Grand Mage.

This last key is by far the hardest to get. You have to walk down a long corridor that keeps spawning Ninja and Black Order Mages and Assassins, and then find the correct secret door on the southern wall of the far room. It gets CRAZY.

Further, the Grand Mage himself spawns with an incredibly large number of helpers, and it can be hard to loot him even if you DO get him.

When you have gathered all three keys you go to the key table and drop the 3 keys on the table to receive 3 fiery master keys called "Black Order Keys" double click a master key to gain access to the Travesty. All characters, who are in party with you and stand relatively close to you, will be invited to enter the Travesty's domain too.

Note: On most shards the spike traps in the citadel have been fixed and now only do between 10-20 points of damage.

The Travesty

The Travesty is an uber-changeling.

Fictionally, she works directly for the dark mage Minax, and correspondence and orders between the 2 can be found on her corpse and littered about the room. Some of these give quests, some of these are the object of quests. Either way, most of said quests involve the Notary outside the Brit Library. A mixed party seems to work best. Pets can work alright. Keep spamming "all kill" when it changes form, or else your pets will get confused when she changes form and casts mirror image.

Dexxers can do alright.

She is among the easier Peerlesses actually.

When she takes your form, look out, she'll be on you in a second or less. She can use the specials on your weapon, and cast your spells, when she takes your form. (For example if she takes the form of a necromancer, she casts revenants. If she takes the form of me and I'm using my Breath of the Dead, she uses mortal strike.) Equipping no weapon and making her target you USED to work to minimize the damage she does, but doesn't anymore. When redlined, she summons about 10 ninjas and Black Order Mages and Assassins to help. It is wisest to ignore these and concentrate on killing the Travesty first. If you allow Travesty to heal herself back up to her "ninja summoning point" in her hitpoints she will summon another 10 helpers. And then another, and another. You can end up with quite a lot of ninjas running around if you stop damaging her and let her heal.

Fun Fact:

Most of the normal assassins in the Citadel are actually bearded ladies
