Peerless Hunting with UMPWhat You Need to Know to Hunt Peerless with UMP Perhaps you are a new member of UMP, and are interested in hunting peerless with us. Or maybe you're a friend to the guild, and have been invited to participate in a guild peerless hunt. Either way, there are some things you need to know before the hunt, and here's the best place to learn them. First of all, in order to get in to some of the peerless dungeons, you will need certain quests. They are listed below, with some information on what you must do in order to gain entrance to the peerless dungeons. Travesty - To gain entrance to the Citadel, in Tokuno, you will need the "Black Order Badge" quest from Sarakki the Notary, who can be found in front of Lord British's Castle in the city of Britain. Just getting the quest from the NPC gives you entry into Citadel. You do not have to complete the quest. Dreadhorn - To enter the Twisted Weald, you will need to get the Dreadhorn Quest from Lorekeeper Calendor, who can be found in Heartwood, near the fletcher's shop. Again, just getting the quests gives you entry into the Weald; you do not have to complete the quest. Shimmering Effusion - No quest is necessary to enter the Prism of Light to fight Shimmering Effusion as a member of the hunt party. If you wish to go in alone, or as hunt leader, you will need a ticket, which can be purchased from the NPC at the entrance for 10,000 GP. Grizzle - Before fighting the Monstrous Interred Grizzle, you'll need entry into Bedlam. To gain entry, you must start the "Mistaken Identity" quest with Aernya, Mistress of Admissions, who can be found in Umbra, near the Bloodletters (Healers) shop. Get the quest from her, then see Gorrow, the Mayor of Luna in Luna Bank for the "You Scratch My Back" quest. He will send you to get some items, which can all be obtained in Ilshenar, north of the Spirituality gate and shrine. You'll need 1 unicorn rib, 2 Ki-rin brains, and 5 pixie legs. Not all of the creatures you kill will have these items, and while they do have to be removed from the corpse, they do not need to be carved from them corpse. Once you get these items, go back to see Gorrow the Mayor, and then see Aernya in Umbra once again. Then you'll have access to Bedlam. You do not have to complete this quest beyond this point, if you don't want to. Melissande - No quest is necessary to enter Blighted Grove as a hunting party member, however to gain entry to Blighted Grove alone (or as hunt leader) you will need a bone machette. Information on how to obtain one can be found here. Paroxymus - No quest is necessary to gain entry to Paroxymus' Lair as a member of the hunting party. If you wish to enter the dungeon alone or as hunt leader, you will need an acid-proof rope, which can be crafted, or purchased from the NPC near the entrance for 5000 GP. The "Rules" of Peerless Hunting with UMP 1. Take your cues from the hunt leader. Don't know who the hunt leader is? Just ask. Usually it will be whoever led the effort to obtain the keys, or the person who is performing the "key drop" which teleports the hunting party in to fight the boss. 2. Ask about the strategy for each particular peerless. What works in Dreadhorn won't work against Paroxymus or Grizzle, for example. 3. Clarify your role before going in to fight the peerless boss. Normally, one mage is designated as the primary healer/rezzer. The healer's primary role is to heal and rez the offensive team members, such as tamers, dexers, and mages casting summons. The healer should NOT be casting summons or other offensive type spells. In the few seconds it takes to cast such a spell, the tactical situation can change dramatically, with insta-deaths, and revenants suddenly appearing, for example. The tamers' primary function is to vet pets. If all pets are at 100% health, they may heal, rez, and cast offfensive spells. Mages other than the primary healer/rezzer should cast summons as appropriate for the peerless, fields as necessary, and also assist with healing and rezzing as needed. Dexers should do max possible damage while working to stay alive. They are usually the most vulnerable and least survivable in peerless hunts, and are generally not recommended, except for Paroxymus (and then only archers). 4. UMP does NOT party break during peerless hunts. 5. Prior to going in to fight the peerless boss, all party members need to get the health bars on their desktop for all party members and all pets for purposes of cross healing. Mounted riders must dismount in order to assist with this process. 6. When the designated person is ready to "drop the keys," he or she will ask, "Is everyone here?" All party members should answer, if they are able. If all party members indicate they are on-site, the keys are dropped. Once this is done, there is a short period of time (maximum of 10 minutes, but usually just one or two minutes) to allow the key dropper to rejoin the party, and for party members to make last minute preparations, such as protective spells. This is NOT the time to go AFK. Once the key-dropper rejoins the party, he or she will ask, "Is everyone ready?" If you are ready to go in immediately, then say yes. Otherwise, say NO. Once a yes answer is gotten from all party members, the key-dropper will teleport everyone in. 7. Some peerlesses can be killed in 10 minutes or less, others may take an hour or more. Be aware of what will be required before going in, to avoid having to leave in the middle of a fight, and leaving your team-mates at a disadvantage. When the peerless boss is killed, DO NOT RUSH THE CORPSE TO LOOT. If you do, you will be banned from future hunts. A designated person (usually the hunt leader) will loot the body, sorting the high-value loot from the normal loot. The high-value loot is gathered and will be distributed to hunt members at the loot split, which is usually held after all rounds of peerless are completed. The normal loot is put into pouches left on the ground, and when the designated looter is finished he or she will announced "DONE." Then all party members may rummage through the pouches for conventional loot. Gold from the boss and other spawn, to include the gold gathered while obtaining keys is gathered by a designated person and converted to checks at the bank and distributed with the high-value loot at the loot split. 8. Loot splits are done after all rounds of peerless are completed. Splits are done typically in the banquet room of the UMP Annex. If you do not have a rune to the annex, let another hunting party member know, and he or she will gate you there. Once all of the loot is laid out on the tables, party members will roll dice to determine pick order, then take turns picking items from the loot. 9. This method of loot distribution ensures that everyone gets a fair share of loot, regardess of their role. In a typical "party break" situation, healers and rezzers would not get a fair share, since loot is awarded by hit point damage dealt to the boss. 10. Non-guild members may be invited on guild peerless hunts if they are aware of our rules, are willing to abide by them, and have hunted with us before or are well known to us and can be vouched for by a member. Even so, hunt party members should be polled, and a consensus reached to allow a guest on guild peerless hunts. |
